Hello everybody,
We, Rens and I, teachers at Wellantcollege, arrived saturday 19th of February, to talk with Timo about continueing having students from the Netherlands for work placements. As their education is Animal Care, and financially there are possibilities for a foreign work placement during their study, we keep up good contacts with companies that want to help students during their studies.
Talking with Timo Jokela, the owner, you find out that working under the Lappish circumstances demands quite a lot of a student. The short days in December and January and the sometimes extreme low temperatures don't make things easy when you train dogs, care for them and have to feed some 100 in the early morning. Besides that there are more tasks to be done, socialize with guests, help cleaning after dinner, be ready for them whenever, etc. Using different languages, mostly English is one of the goals!
The team here is one team and does things together!!
We experienced a kind Timo, knows what he talks about, made an excellent snow mobile tour through a fantastic scenery and saw the cabins where for example people stay overnight in 2 day sledge tour. All you (really) need is there for an unforgettable trip up North.

I enjoyed working on the farm very very much, I had a great time and I am looking forward to come again. I will tell all my friends about that wonderful place and the fun you can have outdoors with the dogs. You can only see part of the beauty on pictures, you have to go and see and feel it, and than you know what's all about! And you always want to come back for more :-)

Ha allemaal,
Ook nog maar een berichtje in het nederlands.
We zijn een weekje naar finn-jann geweest (14 t/m 22 december 2009). Vooraf was het lastig in te schatten wat we konden verwachten.... is het koud? gaat het hard? luisteren de honden? etc... nou, deze week overtrof onze verwachtingen. Het was echt gaaf! De week begon koud (bijna -30 graden), maar met de goede kleding van hun, was dit geen probleem. Ook de sneeuw was niet optimaal, maar.. het parcour werd hierdoor uitdagender, dus echt de moeite waard.
Verder is het niet echt lang licht (ca. 9.30 tot 15.30 uur). Wat dat betreft is wellicht de lente beter, maar voor ons heeft dit geen problemen opgeleverd.
Al met al was het een fantastische week!! Het geld was het meer dan waard!

Dear Timo and others,
You noticed that my english isn't that good, but... i think you will understand.
We (Peter and Cor) enjoid last week. We didn't know what to expect, but it was great!! We like to 'drive' with the dogs, specially at the difficulty places, very great!
Thanx for the specially week, i think we don't forget it soon.
Maybe we come (once) back in a spring!
